With the aim of continuing to promote talent development, strengthen the link between education and the productive sector, and foster innovation, Zonamerica and UTU signed a cooperation agreement that will enable technical education programs to be delivered within the business campus.

The agreement was signed on Thursday, December 18, at Zonamerica’s offices and includes, among other provisions, the establishment of an office of the General Directorate of Technical and Professional Education (DGETP–UTU) within the park. This permanent presence will seek to connect academic training with the business ecosystem, promoting learning in a real working environment.

One of the main milestones of the agreement is the launch of the Supply Chain Technologist program, which will begin in March 2026 at Zonamerica. The program will be run by the Villa García Technical School and will be open both to employees working within the park and to residents of the Canelones area and the metropolitan region.

This technologist program will allow employees of companies based on the campus to accredit curricular units and will include a dual training model starting in the second year, combining academic coursework with hands-on experience in the business environment. In addition, it may be completed virtually and asynchronously, with at least half of the available places reserved for workers from the campus.

Regarding this initiative, Zonamerica’s General Manager, Martín Dovat, stated:

“We are very pleased to be able to launch this joint program with UTU and to work together. We hope it will result in more trained individuals and create opportunities for young people to undertake internships and jobs within companies on the campus, as well as enable those already working at Zonamerica to accredit their knowledge.”

The agreement also includes strategies to support the completion of basic education and upper secondary education for workers in the park, as well as the possibility of validating subjects in UTU’s IT programs for graduates of the Holberton School of programming.

In addition, both institutions committed to developing projects related to education, research, and technology transfer, as well as training and upskilling initiatives focused on strategic areas for regional development. Within this framework, internship and professional practice programs will be implemented to allow students to gain direct exposure to the world of work.

For her part, UTU’s General Director, Virginia Verderese, noted:

“This agreement is a win-win for both parties. We are very grateful to Zonamerica for providing a space that allows us to generate new proposals and continue expanding the educational offering in this region.”

The signing of the agreement was attended by authorities from UTU and Zonamerica, including representatives from academic, management, talent, and organizational development areas, reaffirming their shared commitment to education, employability, and the growth of the business ecosystem.
