The Zonamerica Collection was officially unveiled , a groundbreaking exhibition featuring more than fifty works by the Italian-Uruguayan master Lino Dinetto, alongside pieces by the great masters of Uruguayan painting. The collection has been preserved for decades by Orlando Dovat, founder and president of Zonamerica, and is now being opened to the public as a cultural contribution that goes beyond the realm of business.

A campus where art is part of everyday life

Since its inception, the campus has promoted creativity, innovation, and cultural diversity as the cornerstones of a vibrant community. The Zonamerica Collection embodies that spirit: it not only preserves works by great masters but also integrates them into the buildings and spaces where thousands of people work and pass through every day.

Thus, staff, visitors, and companies are surrounded every day by the beauty, sensitivity, and history that these pieces convey, making art a bridge that brings people together and an essential part of the campus’s identity.

A collection built up over decades

For Orlando Dovat, the collection was not a premeditated project, but rather a natural evolution of his connection to art. Over the years, he amassed works acquired at auctions, galleries, private sales, and even directly from the artists’ studios, including Dinetto, with whom he maintained a close friendship.

The collection includes works by Uruguayan artists from different generations, such as Manuel Pailós, José Gamarra, José Gurvich, Cecilia Mattos, Gonzalo Fonseca, Pedro Figari, and José Luis Zorrilla de San Martín, among others.

Lino Dinetto: a master of color

Born in Italy in 1927 and based in Uruguay since 1951, Dinetto is a key figure in Uruguayan modern art. His work combines the power of the landscape with the spiritual and the sensual, and is distinguished by its unmistakable chromatic intensity. He was a muralist, teacher, director of the Institute of Fine Arts, and creator of monumental frescoes in the country’s churches and iconic buildings.

He exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art in São Paulo in 1959. Over time, his artistic style evolved toward a freer, more textural style of painting, exploring new textures and compositions. In 2007, the National Museum of Visual Arts presented the retrospective “Dinetto: Master of Color, curated by Orlando Dovat, which formed the basis for much of the collection on display today on campus.

About the production and curation of the exhibition

The collection was produced and curated by ART/CO, a team led by Elaiza Pozzi and Verónica Parrado, who were responsible for selecting, organizing, and installing the works. Their work made it possible to create an exhibition layout that highlights the artistic sensibility, the vibrant colors, and the dialogue among the various artists featured, integrating each piece into the spirit of the campus and enhancing the experience of those who visit the exhibition.

An open invitation to the community

The opening of the Zonamerica Collection marks a cultural milestone on campus, reaffirming its commitment to creating experiences that enrich the lives of employees, businesses, and visitors.

The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover art from a familiar, everyday, and inspiring perspective, integrating it into the rhythm of the surrounding community.
