Artica Biotech S.A. Expands Operations in Uruguay

The company opened a laboratory and its offices in Zonamerica.

Improving human health through the safe application of science and technology is part of the mission of Artica Biotech S.A., which has opened a state-of-the-art laboratory and established its offices in Uruguay to direct its operations toward Europe and Asia.

This Chinese company, headquartered in Shanghai, is one of the largest suppliers of biological reagents and consumables in China.

The establishment of a state-of-the-art laboratory in Uruguay enables Artica Biotech S.A. to provide world-class culture media and technical services to clients in the biopharmaceutical and precision medicine sectors.

Since 2017, the company has been operating in Uruguay in the field of technological innovation for healthcare, albeit on a smaller scale, at a laboratory located in the La Teja neighborhood. Due to the success of this pilot project, the company decided to expand its facilities, thereby increasing its production capacity.

In six years, sales volume rose from $400,000 to $16 million. Similarly, the company started out with just two employees and now has a total of 25 people on its staff.

The initial investment to set up this state-of-the-art laboratory was $10 million.
